Lithuania - decisive, effective actions aimed at developing a partnership from the Baltic to the Caspian Sea!

Black Sea Economic Forum, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Kherson, Victor Popov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum, Volodymyr Makukha. 

Among many issues, there are in particular such ones:

  • The preliminary plan for the continuation of the VII Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum and the determination of the date based on the date of the actual resumption of international air services with Turkmenistan were discussed;
  • Among the important segments of the development of effective cooperation from the shores of the Baltic Sea to the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea there is a historic point, memorandum of cooperation, signed during the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum on September 25 in Kherson, between Kherson and Lithuanian (Klaipeda) maritime academies and modern Kuryk seaport (Kazakhstan), as another practical foundation not only for the development of cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, but also a significant lever for the development of partnership between EU countries (including Lithuania), Eastern Partnership (Ukraine) and Central Asia (Kazakhstan);
  • There were discussed prospects of the development of the so-called "Gdynia Triangle", with the participation of enterprises, institutions and organizations of Gdynia and Pomeranian Voivodeship (Poland), Klaipeda and Klaipeda district (Lithuania), Kherson and Kherson region (Ukraine) as a basic driver of the development of cooperation in Europe within the project of establishing an international corridor of effective cooperation, of the important role of the Republic of Lithuania representatives in these processes;
  • The importance of strengthening and developing partnerships with Central Asian countries, in particular Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, was discussed.

Given the situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the quarantine restrictions imposed, current remote action plans have been agreed.
