PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN KHERSON AND GDYNIA SCHOOLS - ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS RAPPROCHEMENT BETWEEN UKRAINE AND POLAND

Kherson Gymnasium №16 and School №26 named after the Army of the National City of Gdynia today (December 16) held a solemn signing of a partnership and cooperation agreement. For this purpose, a direct video connection was organized, using zoom, between the Ukrainian Kherson and the Polish Gdynia.

In the Polish city of Gdynia next representatives took part in the celebrations:

  • Wojciech Szczurek - President (Mayor) of Gdynia;
  • Lev Zakharchyshyn - The Consul of Ukraine in Gdansk;
  • Bartosz Bartoszewicz - Vice President of Gdynia for Quality of Life;
  • Krystyna  Pshyborovska - Head of the Department of Education of Gdynia;
  • Bartolomei Pshybytsel - Deputy Head of the Department of Education of Gdynia;
  • Alitsiia Baidushevska - director of the school №26 in Gdynia;
  • Dariusz Kijanka – representative of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum in Poland, “Poland-Ukraine” Project Manager;
  • Representatives of the city administration of Gdynia and teachers of the school №26.

The Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Odessa, Katarzyna Solek, arrived in Kherson to take part in this important event for both the city of Kherson and the city of Gdynia, Ukraine and Poland. Also in Kherson next representatives took part in the solemn event:

  • Yurii Nikonov - head of the education department of the Kherson city council;
  • Volodymyr Makukha - Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum;
  • Krystyna Holovchenko - director of the Kherson gymnasium №16;
  • Alona Leshchenko - Professor of Kherson State Maritime Academy;
  • Olena Kulyk - First Deputy Head of the Education Department of the Kherson City Council;
  • Svitlana Omelchuk - Head of the General Secondary Education Department of the Education Department of the Kherson City Council;
  • Rozaliia Lypynska - chairman of the Kherson organization Polonia;
  • gymnasium teachers.   

As Volodymyr Makukha, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum, noted:

“Strengthening and developing cooperation between enterprises, institutions and organizations from the Baltic to the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea, in the framework of an international project of establishing a corridor of effective cooperation coordinated by the international team of our forum, Gdynia and Pomeranian Voivodeship (Poland), Kherson and Kherson region (Ukraine), Klaipeda and Klaipeda district (Lithuania). We define this as the basic “Gdynia Triangle”.      A year ago, during a meeting with the President of Gdynia, Mr. Wojciech Szczurek, we, together with the Consul of Ukraine in Gdansk, Mr. Lev Zakharchyshyn, discussed a cooperation development plan, which, thanks to Mr. President of Gdynia, Mr. Consul of Ukraine in Gdansk and support of Consul General of Poland in Odessa began to actively implement. One of the first to join our project was a powerful, modern seaport in Gdynia. Kherson State Maritime Academy and Gdynia Maritime University became partners, active communication between the team of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum and the Gdynia Economic Maritime Forum was started. Partnership and cooperation between Kherson gymnasium №16 and school №26 in Gdynia is a very important event that starts cooperation between Kherson and Gdynia from the school bench. Kherson Gymnasium actively cooperates with the Kherson organization Polonia, studying the culture of Poland, and in the school №26 in Gdynia administration began to create a Ukrainian cultural center”.

The President of the City of Gdynia, Mr. Wojciech Szczurek, stressed the importance of such substantive cooperation between enterprises, organizations and institutions of Gdynia and Kherson, noting the historical importance of today's event. The foundation for strengthening and developing friendly relations is laid just by developing cooperation between schools, and the foundations of tolerance are laid.

The Consul General of Poland in Odessa, Ms. Katarzyna Solek, noting the importance of this event, noted that the cooperation that is actively developing between schools and universities in Kherson and Kherson region, Gdynia and Pomeranian Voivodeship is an important component of strengthening friendship and partnership between Ukraine and Poland.

For his part, the Consul of Ukraine in Gdansk Mr. Lev Zakharchyshyn, recalling the discussion of possible partnership between Gdynia and Kherson, which once took place with the President of Gdynia Mr. Wojciech Szczurek, noted that just this substantive partnership and cooperation, implementation of joint projects, which we are witnessing, lay a solid foundation, thanks to which there is hope that in time the partnership will be concluded at the level of Gdynia and Kherson.

In a solemn atmosphere, a cooperation agreement, in two languages (Ukrainian and Polish), was signed between Kherson Gymnasium №16 and School №26 in Gdynia.

On the Ukrainian side, the agreement was signed by the director of the Kherson gymnasium №16 Krystyna Holovchenko (pictured right).

On the Polish side, the agreement was signed by Alitsiia Baidushevska, director of the school №26 in Gdynia.

After congratulating the participants of the festivities, the students of junior classes of Gdynia presented their creative number to them.
