TURKMENISTAN CONFIRMS STATUS OF ONE OF THE LEADERS IN ASIA BY PRACTICAL ACTIONS

14.01.2021

Today (January 14, 2021) a remote meeting was held with the participation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Ukraine Toyli Atayev and Deputy Chairman of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum Volodymyr Makukha. Turkmenistan plays a very important role in the development of cooperation between enterprises, organizations and institutions of Europe and Asia. Thanks to the strategically thought-out and effective actions of the country's government officials aimed at implementing the wise plans of the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, to develop transport and logistics projects and transport corridors from the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea to the Baltic, Turkmenistan is said to be one of the leaders among Asian countries and one of the the legislators of the development of new effective models of international cooperation at the UN platforms.

During the meeting, in particular, there were worked out plans to prepare for the continuation of the VII Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum this year with the participation of distinguished delegation from Turkmenistan.

One of the issues to be discussed during the forum is the development of cooperation from the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea to the Baltic coast on the development of transport corridors and new logistics models, intensification of international cooperation between ports and transport - logistics companies. At the same time, geography of cooperation is not limited to the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea. The development of cooperation in this area deep into Asia is actively developing largely due to the effective actions of Turkmenistan.

According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Ukraine, Toyli Atayev, today, January 14, a solemn ceremony was held to open a 30-kilometer railway section between Akina-Andkhoy stations of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (Afghanistan) and the launch of an international fiber-optic communication system: transit flows on the route Imanmazar (Turkmenistan) - Akina (Afghanistan) and Serhetabat (Turkmenistan) - Turgundi (Afghanistan).

It is very symbolic that President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, as well as members of governments, heads and representatives of a number of ministries and departments of the two countries took part in the opening of these large-scale infrastructure facilities.

The Honorable Ambassador said during the meeting:

"The Akina-Andkhoy railway branch is connected to the railway system of Turkmenistan and is part of the Asian International Railway Transport Corridor, which should become one of the key parts of the Lazurite Corridor (Lapis Lazuli)".

During the opening of this railway branch, a train consisting of 20 wagons loaded with export products from Turkmenistan was solemnly sent from Akina station to Andhoy.

Keeping pace with the times and paying considerable attention to the development of new technologies and modern means of international communication, which also contributes to the more efficient development of new transport and logistics routes and their efficient operation, Turkmenistan continues to effectively build information bridges between countries. In particular, today the international fiber-optic communication system of transit flows on the route Imanmazar (Turkmenistan) - Akina (Afghanistan) and Serhetabat (Turkmenistan) - Turgundi (Afghanistan). were solemnly launched.

The launch of these facilities, initiated by the President of Turkmenistan, does not only demonstrate the example of effective work during the quarantine restrictions, imposed by many countries, but also it will certainly increase transport and transit capacity, both in Turkmenistan and the region. This positive experience and additional prospects for partners from the eastern shores of the Caspian to the Baltic are also planned to be discussed this year during the continuation of the VII Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum.
