The importance of the Baltic-Black Sea-Caspian cooperation development was not overlooked during the visit of the Lithuanian Seimas delegation to Kherson region

From 12 to 14 May, a delegation of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania headed by the Speaker of the Seimas, Ms. Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen (pictured first from left) paid an official visit to Kherson Region. During busy schedule, Ms. Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Deputy Chairman of the Group for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with Ukraine Jonas Jarutis, Members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania: Chairman of the National Security and Defense Committee, Head of the Group for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with Ukraine Laurynas Kasčiūnas and Deputy Chairman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Ažubalis were also informed about the state of implementation of international projects initiated at the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum. The discussion on the implementation of the basic project related to establishment an international corridor of multilateral cooperation from the shores of the Baltic sea to the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea focused on the important communication role played by the international team of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum.

According to the fact that the forum is hosted alternately by Ukraine and Lithuania, and the VIII Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum is planned in Klaipeda, Lithuania, there was previously discussed the importance of joint efforts with representatives of the Seimas of Lithuania to improve the preparation and to conduct forum activities. practical implementation of projects important for the strengthening and development of the Baltic-Black Sea-Caspian cooperation. It was pointed out that it was very symbolic that celebrations of awarding the International Order "For Efficiency" to Mayor of Klaipeda Vytautas Grubliauskas and ex-Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Marius Janukonis in Vilnius, on the territory of the Embassy of Ukraine were held exactly on the day of the arrival of the high delegation of the Seimas in Kherson, on May 12.

During a separate meeting held by the delegation of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania at Kherson State Maritime Academy, the important role played jointly by Kherson and Lithuanian Maritime Academies for strengthening and developing the Baltic-Black Sea-Caspian Partnership was noted. In particular, the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen and members of the delegation praised the importance of joint events held by Kherson State Maritime Academy with its Lithuanian counterparts. The importance of developing a positive partnership experience, similar to the seminar held last week by colleagues from maritime academies of Kherson and Klaipeda together with the management of the modern Kazakh seaport of Kuryk, was also noted.
