13.05.2020

The Pomerania Development Agency, located in Gdansk, Poland, is an organization created in 1992, which is one of the key partners of the Pomeranian Voivodeship local authorities in ensuring regional development. The Agency provides enterprises and institutions with access to EU funds promoting entrepreneurship, and carries out other projects that are important for the Pomeranian.

The agency’s functions also include:

  • managing of capital funds investing in innovative business projects;
  • providing comprehensive support to investors, which plays an important role in the economic promotion of the region and attraction of foreign direct investments;
  • delivering information and advisory services as well as training for small and medium-sized business sectors;
  • implementing projects of local, national and international importance.

The VII Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum to be held in Ukraine (Kherson) will be attended by the representative of the Pomeranian Development Agency Dariusz Kijanka (Department of Entrepreneurship Development). Noting the importance of the upcoming forum, Dariusz said:

“The successful project on establishing a corridor of effective cooperation, initiated in the venues of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum, gave an impulse to the active development of relations at the level of enterprises, institutions, organizations in the Polish city of Gdynia and the Ukrainian city of Kherson, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship and Kherson Region. But these are just the first steps towards the opportunities, which are opened by this partnership project from the Baltic to the Caspian Sea.

The Seaport of Gdynia and Gdynia Maritime University, which are already partners of this Baltic Sea-Black Sea-Caspian Sea project coordinated by the forum, have opened the “sea gates” of opportunities for partners from Europe and Asia for the effective implementation of promising joint projects with the participation of enterprises and organizations of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Moreover, the directions of this cooperation can and should become broader, where transport logistics and cooperation in the field of science and education can play the role of connecting links.

The new challenges, which are associated with the existing epidemic and quarantine measures faced by the countries of Europe and Asia, require more active dialogue and new joint decisions. The introduction of new technologies, in particular, those providing the possibility to control remotely both production facilities and international economic projects, is entering a new level of significance. It concerns various activity areas: from production, provision of services to the organization of trade and high-tech solutions. For example, the scientific developments of the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia are gaining new significance in these conditions. A number of its innovative developments, already implemented in many countries, can cause interest and find application in the partner countries from the Baltic to the Caspian.

All this suggests that during the forum there will be substantive dialogues, fruitful discussions on joint development of solutions to effectively overcome the emerging economic crisis in order to ensure further development of enterprises, partner organizations and the states in the Baltic Sea-Black Sea-Caspian Sea space” .
