TURKMENISTAN IS A RELIABLE PARTNER IN THE EASTERN SHORES OF THE CASPIAN SEA

04.08.2020

Today (August 4, 2020) Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum Volodymyr Makukha met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Ukraine Mr. Toyly Atayev.

Turkmenistan is one of the legislators in matters of development of international cooperation in transport and logistics. Due to the well-thought-out, systematic, and wise policy of its President, dear Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan is an example of a modern approach to the development of transport infrastructure, initiation and implementation of projects related to multimodal cargo transportations.

During the meeting, there was held a substantive discussion on the implementation of the project to create a corridor for effective cooperation from the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea to the Baltic Sea coast, in which partners from Turkmenistan occupy one of the key positions. This project, initiated at the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum, is, among other things, a practical mechanism for implementing Turkmenistan's programme areas in terms of developing cooperation in transport and logistics with access to the Baltic Sea, which were identified by the President of Turkmenistan during his last year's report at the 1st Caspian Economic Forum held in Turkmenbashi.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Ukraine Mr. Toyly Atayev, emphasizing Turkmenistan’s consistent and effective work related to the development of both multimodal transport corridors and international transport connection, including air communication, noted the importance of the negotiations started with the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine on renewing the direct passenger air traffic between Turkmenistan and Ukraine, wherein Turkmenistan had created an atmosphere of comprehensive assistance in resolving this issue.

There were  separately discussed issues regarding the preparation and holding of the VII Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum in Ukraine (Kherson) this year, which is defined as an important international platform aimed in particular at developing joint international projects with the participation of Turkmenistan – the forum, in which a solid and reputable delegation from Turkmenistan is expected to participate.

Along with the issues on strengthening and developing economic cooperation from the Baltic to the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea as well as actualizing cooperation in transport and logistics, cooperation in the field of science and education was also discussed.
