INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF MARITIME HIGHER EDUCATION WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE GLOBAL ECONOMY

“Dear colleagues, friends and guests of the conference! On behalf of Danube Institute of National University "Odessa Maritime Academy" I congratulate You on the occasion of the VII Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum.

This event traditionally brings together Ukrainian and foreign experts in various fields to discuss current issues of international economic, humanitarian and scientific ties, including maritime professionals, and this year there is also an opportunity of joining for higher education institutions of Ukraine and European countries.

The world’s growing demand for maritime higher education, improving accessibility and convenience of acquiring it, increasing its attractiveness and direct practical application of its content in future workplaces on modern maritime vessels is radically changing the environment of higher maritime education in Ukraine and around the world.

In this rapidly changing environment, which is more and more based on innovative approaches in the context of a global knowledge-focused economy, traditional maritime higher education institutions are trying to adapt their goals, structures and programs. Due to these processes, new organizational changes are emerging. These changes and new developments related to them accelerate progress in the field of digital communications and learning technologies, allow to create and implement new innovative approaches to the development of maritime professionals’ competencies.

Thus, I believe that participation in the VII Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum is a great opportunity for scientists from different countries to share scientific and practical experience, new developments and methods. Hopefully this forum will not only be a significant contribution to the promotion of Ukrainian science, but also outline new ways to solve the difficult tasks of reforming higher maritime education in Ukraine"- Valentyn Chymshyr.
