The coronavirus pandemic challenges the world economy, which is on the verge of a global crisis.

Noting the importance of the VII Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum to be hold in Ukraine (Kherson) and relevance of the issues to be discussed during the section on international cooperation from the Baltic to the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea, emphasizing the need for consolidated actions to create the economic security belt, Vytautas Nauduzas said:

“The importance of this meeting and substantive discussions during the forum is evidenced by the situation in which the world economy has found itself in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. It is necessary to use the opportunity of a "confident start" that the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum provides for post-quarantine reset, gathering representatives from Europe and Asia at its sites in Kherson, Ukraine. It is necessary to make the most of this opportunity for the economies of the EU, the Eastern Partnership and Asia. The proposals and expert assessments developed during the forum by the representatives from Europe and Asia can become an important tool to coordinate joint overcoming of consequences of the pandemic and work out a new format for cooperation, which should take into account the new realities of the world. A separate factor of optimistic expectations from the forum is the fact that it will be attended mainly by partners from Europe and Asia, for whom it is easier to jointly assess the situation, develop and implement plans of action”.
