Klaipeda, Kherson, Quryq - uniting three seas

06.05.2021

On May 6, there took place an event that can be called historical both in fact and in content. Last year, during the VII Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum, with the signing of cooperation agreement between Lithuanian State Maritime Academy (Klaipeda), Kherson State Maritime Academy, Quryq Seaport (Kazakhstan) and the Science Park of Kherson State Maritime Academy "Maritime Innovations” a new page of the multifaceted format of international cooperation between the representatives of Lithuania, Ukraine and Kazakhstan was opened.

Not intending to put "out of hand" the intentions stipulated by the signed agreement, a joint seminar was held today with the participation of Lithuanian and Kherson State Maritime Academies and the management of the seaport Quryq. This seminar was entitled: "Education-Production Dialogue: International Cooperation".

This format is not only new for Lithuania, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, but also demonstrates the current vision of international cooperation of partners from Klaipeda, Kherson and the port of Quryq, that open new horizons for effective development. The rector of Kherson State Maritime Academy Vasyl Cherniavskyi drew attention to this during his welcoming speech.

During the event, scientists from Lithuania and Ukraine introduced partners from the Kazakh port of Quryq with their research and development results. In particular, Doctor of Science Rima Mickiene from Lithuanian State Maritime Academy presented the results of analytical research that formed the basis of small lecture: "Modern models of seaport management and economic indicators of port activities."

Serik Akhmetov, General Director of the modern seaport Quryq, emphasizing the importance and future prospects of this partnership, noted the relevance of both scientific developments of specialists of both academies and the implementation of training projects for specialists in port and sea industries of Kazakhstan. This work is expected to begin in the near future as an internship at Kherson State Maritime Academy and by training and retraining specialists of the port of Quryq in Kherson and Lithuanian Maritime Academies. In addition, Serik Akhmetov provided very important information on the actual situation and management decisions aimed at improving the effective development of seaports such as the port of Quryq.

Separately, the Kazakh partners noted the importance of the results of scientific research in the field of processing and protection of metals and advanced developments aimed at reducing costs in transport and port equipment, which were presented by Doctors of Science of Kherson State Maritime Academy Andriy Buketov and Ihor Hrytsuk.
