04.12.2021

Today (on December 4) Tbilisi has hosted a working meeting between Giorgi Mchedlishvili (pictured in the center), the General Director of Georgia's leading transport and logistics company TransFor Group and Alibek Utegenov (pictured far right), the Director of Marketing and Logistics of the modern Kazakh port of Kuryk.

There were discussed current issues related to defining additional joint partnership activities aimed both at maintaining the best conditions and working out new solutions and providing new opportunities for moving goods from the EU to Central and South Asia, using the potential of TransFor Group, one of the leaders in transport and logistics industry of Georgia, as also the unique opportunities created by the progressive team of the modern Kazakh port of Kuryk.

The relevance of this meeting was connected with:

  • firstly, the need to coordinate local solutions for the effective functioning of the partnership transport and logistics corridor from the Baltic ports of Gdynia (Poland) and Klaipeda (Lithuania) to the port of Kuryk (Kazakhstan), through which the efficient handling of cargo on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea is provided;
  • secondly, the need for partners to discuss possible additional joint decisions aimed, in particular, at implementing the strategic plans identified during the 15th ECO Summit held in Ashgabat on November 28, on the development of existing as well as formation of new transport and logistics routes.
